Job Description: Position Title: Accessibility Consultant
Line of Business: Enterprise digital accessibility
Duration: 6 months
Remote/Hybrid: hybrid, Wednesday and 3rd Friday
Office Location: 81 Bay 16th Floor
Work Schedule (hours per week, start time): 37.5 Hours/week, 9-5 Monday to Friday
Responsibilities:
Job Description: As member of the Enterprise Digital Accessibility Team, you will collaborate with and learn from a highly skilled accessibility team to provide various internal clients with information about their digital properties'' compliance, usability and guidance to make for a better accessible user experience.
Your role as Consultant will be engaged with a group of Digital Teams (Ui / Ux, Design, Developer, QA, Scrum Master, Product Owner) and advising them on accessibility throughout the build cycle or remediation of issues. Your support will range from providing requirements, answering questions, providing code examples, design reviews, copy deck reviews and testing.
Must Haves:- How many years of experience? 3-5 years
1. Experience with Accessibility - 3 years
• WCAG 2.1 A-AA
• Training on accessibility etiquette
• Regulations (AODA, ACA, U.S. ADA, EN 301 549)
2. Accessibility Consulting - 3 years
• Advising Digital Teams how to create and build with accessibility as requirement
• Figma design, copy decks and coded applications
• Solutioning with Ui/UX, Designers and Developers how to minimally adjust their work (visual design / code) and ensure a compliant accessible experience.
3. Client communication skills
• Listening and asking great questions
• Written emails, Teams virtual and in person meetings and Teams chat
4. Manual testing experience - 3 years
• WCAG 2.1 A-AA level
• Using tools and assistive technology; NVDA, JAWS, Voiceover, Talkback, keyboard, colour contrast, browser zoom
• Figma designs
• Copy decks
• Familiarity with automated scans and Deque tools
5. Experience working in Project Teams (scrum and waterfall) - 3 years
• Scrum and waterfall
• Daily scrums and project meetings
• JIRA or ALM ticket
Nice to have:
1. Certifications (CPACC, WAS, NVDA Certification through NV Access, 508 Trusted Tester)
