Intermediate Product Owner with experience delivering customer facing digital products with one of our major banking clients- 36058


Location Address: Hybrid (1x/week team meetings, no set day) - Toronto

Contract Duration: ASAP to 10/31/2025 (Chance of Extension)

Schedule Hours: 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, 37.5 hrs per week

  • Business group: Digital Design & Product Trading, Investing, Advice
  • Project: New project requiring additional Product capacity to support and deliver enhancements to our Investing journey.
  • Reason for request: New project requirement


Typical Day in Role:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Manage and prioritize backlog for the enhancement of digital investing capabilities, spanning money movement, unified investing dashboard, and open banking, working closely with engineering, design and business partners to deliver through multiple release cycles
  • Support retail investing opportunities
  • Monitor and report on client feedback to inform backlog priorities
  • Agile product management for Scotia Digital scrum teams to prioritize effectively and manage inter-dependencies across technology platform teams.
  • Supporting both web and mobile platforms.
  • Communicating project deliverables to external and executive stakeholders.


Must Have Skills:

  • 3-5 years of experience in investing or financial advice
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Product Manager building customer facing digital products
  • 3-5+ years’ experience working on web or mobile platforms working directly with a Scrum team for the mobile/web platform
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Suite
  • Hands-on skills in Atlassian tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Trello, Bitbucket)


Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experience working on a digital trading product is an asset
  • Direct investing or other exposure to other investing tools/products is an asset
  • Technical training - e.g. computer science / engineering or related is an asset but not a priority


Best vs Average: Someone who understands the nuances of investing products. Extensive experience using direct investing or other investing tools/products. The resource would be working on a complex product that has already kicked off. They will be acting as the point person, and the financial expertise goes a long way. Must have skills are the central to success and strong experience in those areas is prioritized.


Degrees or certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required

• CSC (Canadian Securities Course) an asset

• CFA Level 1 or in progress is an asset

• Structure and Format:

- 1st round: Virtual behavioral interview with hiring manager, 30-45 mins

- 2nd round: In person technical interview with case study presented to panel (information to be shared a few days prior to interview), 60 mins
