Schedule Hours: 8:30am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week


Story Behind the Need

- Business group: Transformation Management Office (TMO), Global Risk Management (GRM)

- Project: The Risk Transformation Program is a significant multi-year investment for Scotiabank and the Transformation Management Office brings together all the transformational, operational and IT change activities across multiple geographies and will support the risk function globally. The key objective of the program is to strengthen the effectiveness of the Bank’s risk function through sustainable process enhancements and updated target operating models.

- Reason: Contribute to the overall success of the TMO within Global Risk Management by supporting the Director, Transformation Office on managing financial forecasts, driving employee engagement activities and enabling operational efficiencies within the department.

Typical Day in Role:

• Perform financial management activities such as quarterly and annual budget forecasting and work closely with GRM Finance to investigate and resolve discrepancies

• Manage the submission of FTE hiring requests for TMO operating transit as well as the GRM central project transit

• Work with TMO leadership team to gather and ensure completeness and reasonability of financial information such as FTE, Contractors, Software, Professional Fees, and Discretionary spending, etc.

• Own the end-to-end solution that facilitates and tracks GRM FTE complements, including preparing executive dashboards for GRM leadership team

• Lead team engagement activities, including onboarding sessions, regular meetings/ townhalls, social events, and learning and development opportunities

• Perform ad-hoc, special, and/or focused data analytics as necessary, as well as other duties and projects as assigned, to support the overall Risk Transformation Program

• Continually strive for operational excellence; seek ways to streamline processes, while creating and enabling operational efficiencies across the department.

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Must Have Skills:

• 5+ years’ progressive exp in project management related work in roles such as PCO, Financial analyst, Project Manager (functional) or similar capacity.

• 2+ years’ experience in performing financial forecast and managing programming and operating budget

• 2+ years of recent experience in Banking industry with a particular emphasis in and/or industry experience supporting large scale and complex transformational projects.

• 5+ years’ highly efficient in intermediate to advanced MS Excel (VLOOKUP's, Pivot tables, functions)

• 2+ Power BI for data visualization tools while creating and maintain dashboards


Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) risk management

2) Knowledge of SharePoint administration would be an asset

3) Exp working in large scale transformation program


Soft Skills Required:

• Solid business acumen and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication abilities to execute varied activities within tight deadlines and deliver with a great amount of accuracy and completeness whilst demonstrating excellent time management skills.

Education & Certificates:

• University degree in business, finance, or other relevant field


Best VS. Average Candidate: Top candidate will have/be someone who has all the soft skills, strong exp with Excel. Personality and team fit and central to consideration once all required technical skillsets are satisfied. Not looking for someone overly operational, personality fit is front and center.
