Jr. BI Developer

The Jr. BI Developer will report to the Sr. Manager, BI for our client business markets division.


· Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, BI, IT, CS and/or related fields or experience

· 3+ years of experience in the data management discipline covering the data development, ETL, SQL and DBA.

· Strong background in SQL and ETL platforms (SAS, Pentaho, etc.)

· 3+ years of experience in SAS EG ETL development and some level of SAS administration.

· Solid understanding of the BI lifecycle including the design, development, QA, maintenance, and support stages.

· Effective communicator with facilitation and conflict resolution skills

· Excellent presentation skills

· Structured and proactive with the need to quickly execute in an agile development environment.

· Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, particularly in the area of customer and competitor/industry analysis, with an ability to extract strategic themes and quickly draw meaningful conclusions

· Resourceful, autonomous, disciplined self-starter, with the ability to work independently and as part of an extended team

· In-depth knowledge of data marts and data design/architecture concepts.

· Passion for uncovering business needs, identifying opportunities, and aligning efforts to ensure timely implementation

Preferred Competencies

· Hands on machine learning and AI experience strongly preferred

· Experience in Microstrategy or other reporting front is an asset

· Experience in technology companies and/or telecom networks is a strong asset


Key Responsibilities:

· Create and maintain business and competitive intelligence processes, tools and databases to support the development of product, customer and market segment strategies and programs within Bell Business Markets

· Lead the planning, identification, development and implementation of design and/or changes to key data models to support reports and ad-hoc requests

· Design and build multi dimensional data models based on requirements

· Build new and/or modify existing ETLs to refresh data models

· Present key findings to management teams and business stakeholders

· Engage and build strong relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders to incorporate their goals, and instill confidence to ensure alignment to and adoption of solutions.

· Act as a steward for standards around data model, data dictionary and implementation of business rules and definitions
