Our public-sector client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to assist with the planning of workstation upgrades for Geoscience applications


Candidates can be in Calgary or Edmonton. Candidates will be required to be in-office when needed (Hybrid)


Must haves:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a focus on compute workstation fundamentals (CPU, GPU, Ram, storage, network) and how their requirements associated to Geoscience applications.
  • Experience with Geoscience applications (Accumap, ArcGIS pro, Kingdom, Posit, etc)
  • Experience with “packaging” and deploying of Geoscience applications in an enterprise computer environment.
  • Understanding of effective Change Management for successful project outcomes.

  • Excellent communication skills - ability to interpret business SME requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Ability to understand different technical implementations relating to workstation and or cloud virtual workstations.
  • Pro-active problem solver and friendly team player
  • Ability to follow existing standards, but be flexible enough to create ad-hoc workarounds, if required
  • Using their expertise to voice constructive opinions
  • Working in a technical team and understanding the roles of each person on the project team


Responsibilities:

  • Engage with Project Team and various stakeholders to understand requirements and outcomes
  • Develop detailed project plan outlining steps, timeline, and resources to design, build, and deploy the new compute environment.
  • Work with IMT and AGS Manager to establish success criteria, milestones, and the approach communicating/reporting back to various stakeholders.
  • Work with SME’s to identify and forecast costs for an effective compute environment (will include cloud cost analysis vs physical workstation costs)
  • Perform day to day activities where required such as stand ups, creating tasks for resources, and monitoring and managing progress.
  • Plan and coordinate project resources and activities into Workday ERP tool.
  • Maintain and manage a RAID backlog for project objectives and deliverables.
  • Work with Change Manager to identify and effectively manage Change activities including training.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed based on success criteria and established milestones.
