Our Calgary client is looking for a Senior Regulatory Advisor to support development of regulatory strategy and manage the approval process for Major Midstream Project
Must Have:
- 10+ years of experience as a Regulatory Advisor or Environmental Planner
- Strong experience in managing the regulatory application process for large projects
- this includes overseeing the preparation of application and submitting directly to the regulator
- Experience working as part of a project development team is required.
- Experience working with federal and provincial energy regulators, including the AER, AUC, BCER, BC EAO, PRPA, TC, ECCC and CER
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Indigenous groups
Nice to Have:
- 10+ years in the oil and gas industry is preferred
Responsibilities:
- Support development and implementation of a regulatory strategy for project approvals
- Prepare and project manage major regulatory applications and amendments, including for federal and provincial processes
- Oversee and review the development of environmental surveys and studies, impact assessments, and information request responses for the project, including working with third-party consultants
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate mitigation measures that meet the regulatory, Indigenous and corporate objectives
- Create and maintain a commitment table to track commitments made during the regulatory process
- Support the development and maintenance of a risk register during the regulatory process
- Develop schedules and manage budget for the timely submission of regulatory applications, supporting long-term project approvals
- Provide leadership (without direct authority) within a multi-disciplinary team
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including environment, operations, engineering and projects, legal, commercial, and stakeholder relations
- Leverage existing relationships to liaise and collaborate with regulatory agencies that result in the efficient and effective development and review of regulatory submissions.
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements related to energy development to coordinate internal processes that can adapt to regulatory and policy changes, and maintain compliance
- Facilitate internal mentorship to support professional development in the regulatory field.
