Our client is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with Linux/Windows to support a deployment

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Linux/Windows Senior System Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing large software deployments, troubleshooting system issues, integrating various systems, and developing scripts to automate processes. This role requires a strong background in both Linux and Windows environments, as well as experience with system integration and scripting.

This is hybrid position (3 days Office, 2 days working from home)

Location: Edmonton or Calgary Preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Software Deployment: Manage and oversee large-scale software deployments across Linux and Windows systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, including hardware, software, and network problems, to maintain system stability and performance.
• System Integration: Integrate various systems and applications to ensure seamless operation and data flow across the organization.
• Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
• Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor system performance, conduct regular maintenance, and apply updates and patches to ensure system security and reliability.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to support ongoing projects and initiatives.

Must Haves:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration, with a focus on both Linux and Windows environments.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, Red Hat) and Windows Server (e.g., 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022) administration.
• Experience with software deployment tools and methodologies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
• Knowledge of system integration techniques and best practices.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, and Python.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and practices.

Nice to haves:

• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
