BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEMS (BAS) SPECIALIST

Salary Range: $70,643 - $88,306 per year (under

review)

1.0 FTE Permanent Position

The Simcoe

County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time

position of Building Automation Systems (BAS) Specialist to work as a

member of the Maintenance and Environmental Services team. The successful

candidate will be responsible for training staff on front end software, optimizing

the BAS and HVAC systems by monitoring, assessing, and correcting operational

issues and inefficiencies; modifying, debugging, and verifying BAS operating

and programming logic; commissioning/re-commissioning new/existing HVAC

equipment to ensure that operational, energy performance, cost avoidance, and

indoor air quality objectives and targets, are achieved and maintained.

Qualifications, Pertinent Skills and Experience:

Certificate of Qualification

in a mechanical or electrical trade, or a three (3) year college diploma in

Mechanical/Electrical/Building Systems Technology or equivalent, preferably

with Certification through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering

Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).

Minimum five (5) years related

experience in the areas of HVAC and building automation systems, commissioning, maintenance, and

troubleshooting.

·

Ability to program/de-bug

(Basic language) HVAC computer code (Reliable, Siemens or similar).

·

Knowledge of automation

systems computer hardware and software installation.

·

Experience in recommissioning

of HVAC systems to correct operational inefficiencies and restore intended

functionality.

·

Knowledge of applicable

building codes and regulatory requirements related to mechanical building

systems installation and maintenance.

·

Ability to explain technical

information to non-technical people.

·

Excellent organizational and

time management skills.

·

Solid analytical skills.

·

Ability to work independently, as well as being

a team player.

·

Strong oral and written communication skills.

·

Effective leadership and conflict resolution

skills.

·

Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving

skills.

·

Previous experience in an education environment

would be an asset.

·

Ability to

adapt quickly to a dynamic, evolving environment.

·

A valid

driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required as this position will

require travel to various sites throughout Simcoe County.

TESTING

MAY BE REQUIRED DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS.

This

is a full-time permanent position. The regular work year for this position is twelve

(12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve (12) month

position is $70,643 to $88,306 per year, depending on qualifications and

experience. The normal work week for this position is thirty-five (35) hours.

Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all

full-time permanent employees,

even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
