RIGHTS AND EQUITY OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
1.0 FTE
- Permanent position
Salary Range: $75,512 to $94,391 per year
The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking
qualified applicants for the position of Human Rights and Equity Office
Administrator. This role will be responsible for the coordination of all HREO
matters and ensure confidentiality using sound judgement. This role includes
most of the usual functions of an Executive Assistant, as well as additional
responsibilities in coordination for the HREO. This individual is essentially
the front-facing person representing the HREO to the entire Board (all staff,
students, parents/families, and community members, affiliated organizations,
advocacy groups, vendors, etc.).
Responsibilities
include but not limited to:
As a member
of the human rights and equity office (HREO) team and reporting to the Human Rights
and Equity Manager this position requires a high level of integrity, professionalism,
diplomacy, confidentiality, and the ability to work both independently and as a
team member. The primary responsibilities include:

Screening intake calls and submission forms.
Conducting intake and threshold assessment on sensitive and emotionally-charged
matters including harassment and all grounds under the Ontario Human Rights
Code.

Utilizing trauma-informed lens in all
communication with parents, students, union representatives, and staff while
reviewing matters on a case-by-case basis and assessing where to direct
individuals that reach out to the office, who should be involved in
investigations, and the timings of review and investigation. Scheduling
meetings, room bookings, managing calendars and utilizing all appropriate
technology and software as needed -Teams, Zoom, Outlook, etc.

Remaining in communication with, building
relationships and reviewing concerns with parents, employees and students and
utilizing trauma-informed lens.

Writing confidential reports, memos, policies,
APMs, and maintaining appropriate communication with all parties that may be
used in courts, based on interviews, research and case law.

Ensuring precise, accurate and effective
confidential notetaking at all investigative meetings, using technology and
software as needed (i.e. Zoom transcription).
·
Working closely with all HREO staff including
system navigator and internal and external investigators to problem-solve and
communicate direction on cases.

Administrative tasks such as maintaining the website,
filing, keeping up to date on all HREO projects, cases and matters.
·
With direction from the HREM, communicating
with broad range of internal and external stakeholders (union groups, advocacy
groups, human resources, finance, etc.) in a manner that upholds the integrity
of the office, builds rapport and trust, demonstrates professionalism, and
ensures confidentiality and demonstrates sound judgement on what to share, how
and when based on the role of the party involved. This includes being mindful
of potential breaches to confidentiality and how to minimize and prevent
information leakage.

Exercise application of appropriate procedures
and policies depending on the situation.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
·
University degree in a relevant field with
three (3) to five (5) years’ related experience as an administrative assistant
or legal assistant.

The board will accept applications with an
equivalent combination of education and experience.
·
Strong interpersonal skills.
·
Very strong organizational skills with the
ability to manage competing priorities.
·
Diplomacy and political acumen, discernment in
judgement.
·
Strong written and verbal communication skills
with working knowledge of SCDSB communication standards.
·
Excellent computer skills including experience with data management
systems, Google Docs, Office 365, and MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint,
Access, Excel, Teams, and OneDrive).
·
Awareness of Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility
for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Anti-Racism Act, and other relevant
legislation and internal policies, APMs, PPMs, memos, etc.
·
Awareness of issues impacting students,
families, employees and all stakeholders.
·
Awareness of the SCDSB system, operational plan
and priorities is preferred.
·
The nature of this position may
require the successful candidate to travel to locations through Simcoe County.

This is a full-time permanent position. The regular work year for this
position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this
twelve (12) month position is $75,512 to $94,391 per year, depending on
qualifications and experience. This position is based on a thirty-five (35)
hour work week.
Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all
full-time permanent employees,
even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
