OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

Salary Range: $62,780 to $78,478 per year

1.0 FTE Permanent

The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Operations Coordinator for the Facility Services Department. Reporting to the Manager of Operations and the Assistant Manager of Operations, the Operations Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the professional development and training of all staff in operations, assisting with the recruiting and onboarding process for new employees, assisting other departmental functions and initiatives, e.g., testing of candidates for the temporary transfer list for various acting custodial leadership opportunities, coordination of workshops, training staff on fall arrest and working from heights, in conjunction with supervisors interview potential candidates for custodial positions, and preparing the quarterly operations newsletter, etc. The Operations Coordinator will facilitate and deliver in-person and online training, and create training presentations / videos. The successful candidate may be required to work outside of regular business hours to assist with department priorities.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Secondary School diploma is required with preference given to candidates with a Community College Diploma in a relevant field;
  • Five (5) years related experience in the areas of custodial, general maintenance and health & safety practices;
  • Working knowledge of custodial and maintenance procedures, equipment, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Fire Code, WHMIS, WSIB, Building Code, Labour Relations, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and SCDSB policies & procedures;
  • Strong oral / written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Proficiency with computers, such as O365, SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Publisher, DirectLine, Outlook, Excel, MS Word, Adobe Premier, and the ability to adapt to other programs;
  • Facilitation skills, working with adult learners and experience in a unionized environment;
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision;
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment is preferred;
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s licence - class G or greater. The successful candidate will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s licence and an acceptable three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report from the Ministry of Transportation;
  • The nature of this position will require the successful candidate to travel large geographical areas;
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time permanent position. The regular work year for this position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve (12) month position is $62,780 to $78,478 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week.

Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,

even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
