INTERPRETER
The Simcoe County District
School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Sign Language
Interpreter/Tutor. The successful candidate is responsible to
provide interpreting/translating services for a specific student.

Salary Range: $26.31 - $32.41 per hour
Qualifications
Required: Three
year Interpreter diploma or equivalent. Six months to one year related
experience. Fluent in American Sign Language and capable of interpreting.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The ability
to work collaboratively with interpreters, teachers, students and other staff.
Knowledge of cross-cultural issues of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Reviews and
maintains a full range of educational curriculum materials for the purpose of
interpretation. Provide student with interpretation in American Sign in a
variety of classroom settings such as lectures, field trips, assemblies and
elective programs. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal,
Special Education, in collaboration with the school Principal (student
conferencing, researching data, developing information kits). Attendance at
meetings outside normal working hours may be required.
Preferred: Experience within the Education environment. Ontario
Interpreter Services registration (OIS) or AVLIC Certification preferred.
This position works the
school year. A full-time (1.0 FTE) Interpreter works
35 hours per week. The

Participation
in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,
even if
currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
