Description
You'll be joining an innovative, agile company with an international reach, with plants in St-Jérôme (QC) & Shanghai (China) and still growing after 50 years.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring health, safety and environment (HSE) policies, programs and initiatives, to ensure a safe working environment that complies with legal standards and industry best practices. You'll be part of an energetic HSE team. You'll also be responsible for other aspects of human resources.
It's a challenging job where routine is unlikely to set in!
In this position, you will have the opportunity to :
Strategy and leadership
- Contribute to the development, updating and implementation of the HSE strategy for operations
- Actively participate in corporate initiatives for employee engagement and well-being
- Develop good relations with internal (employees, unions, management, committees, etc.) and external stakeholders
- Be present in the plant on a daily basis to address HSE issues as they arise
- Communicate constructively and motivatingly on HSE issues with all stakeholders and make prompt and informed decisions
- Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures and accident and illness prevention programs
- Organize, chair and follow up actions concerning the Occupational Health and Safety Committee
Risk assessment and prevention
- In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, identify hazards, assess risks and develop strategies to minimize them
- Anticipate HSE problems and propose proactive solutions
- Design and deliver HSE training for employees and managers
- Raise staff awareness of health and safety issues through communication and awareness campaigns

Investigate and report on incidents
- Propose effective corrective and preventive measures and follow up on their closure
Regulatory watch and compliance
- Monitor HSE regulatory developments
- Plan and follow up HSE audits
Data analysis
- Collect and analyze data on HSE-related incidents, occupational illnesses and absences
- Establish and monitor occupational health and safety performance indicators
Continuous improvement
- Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the organization's safety culture.
- Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving working conditions and safety

ProfileWith the following skills and qualities, you'll be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management with OHS specialization, or any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant
- 5 to 10 years' practical, applied experience as an HSE specialist in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience in talent management, training and organizational development (asset)
- Experience in a unionized environment (asset)
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety laws, standards and regulations
- Mastery of applications/software: Preventis, Dyligence and O365 suite (an asset)
