Sturgeon Public School Division is currently recruiting for a Full-Time Temporary Specialized Programming Educational Assistant 3 for a work assignment at Sturgeon Composite High School. This assignment is subject to change based on operational requirements.

Sturgeon Composite High School, located just minutes north of the City of Edmonton, has a dedicated teaching and support staff team working collaboratively to provide exemplary education to approximately 950 students (grades 10-12). Programming also includes a broad range of Career and Technology Studies; Knowledge & Employability (K&E) and Special Education classes.

Hours: 1.0 FTE; Full-Time Temporary; working 6.5 hrs/day

Initial Assignment: This assignment is in Specialized Programming. Under the direction of the classroom teacher, the Educational Assistant will provide one on one support, group work and supporting students in inclusive environments.

Qualifications & Experience: Educational Assistant or Early Childhood Diploma or Certificate is required, complemented with two year’s experience working with students with challenging behaviours and applying positive behaviour supports with formal training in areas such as autism or behaviours. CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is required. Knowledge and experience with special needs, tube feeding, toileting, lifts and transfers is required. Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience working as an EA2 in a school environment with students with challenging behaviours may be considered.

Hourly Rate: $19.79 - $24.54 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
