Sturgeon School Division is currently recruiting for a Full-Time Temporary Inclusion Support Teacher to join the team at Morinville Public School.

MPS offers specialized, exciting programs for students in Pre-K through Grade 4. Our talented staff are dedicated to providing an exceptional education in a safe and caring environment. Our staff engage students through a child-centered philosophy, play and project-based instruction.

Assignment: 1.0 FTE; Full-Time Temporary Inclusion Support Teacher from November 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Inclusion Support Teacher to provide targeted support and instruction to students with complex needs. This role involves developing and implementing individualized program plans (IPPs) and specialized programs tailored to students' unique needs, particularly in numeracy, literacy, regulation, and socialization skills. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to create a supportive learning environment and promote student success.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement specialized student plans and individualized program plans (IPPs) for students with complex needs, with a focus on students diagnosed with autism.

Provide small group teaching sessions outside of the regular classroom, focusing on targeted numeracy, literacy, emotional regulation, and peer socialization skills.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to support and enhance existing programs and adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs.

Conduct assessments to identify student needs and monitor progress, adjusting programming as necessary to ensure continued growth.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages student engagement, learning, and personal development.

Work closely with support staff and other specialists to ensure students receive comprehensive, wraparound support.

Provide professional development, coaching, and guidance to classroom teachers on best practices for working with students with autism and other complex needs.

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.

Implementation of Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field

Valid teaching certification.

Special education certification or additional qualifications in supporting students with complex needs, with specific training in working with students diagnosed with autism.

Experience developing and implementing IPPs and specialized student programming.

Strong skills in behaviour management, emotional regulation, and social skills development.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills

Extensive experience working with students diagnosed with autism, including knowledge of autism-specific interventions and supports.

Ability to differentiate instruction and create adaptive learning materials.

Knowledge of evidence-based practices in inclusive education.
