Job Description:

The Business Systems Analyst will use his/her knowledge of business objectives, processes, products, technology, and quality concepts to:

  • Partner with business and technology areas to ensure the delivery of quality solutions that meet the needs of the business in a production support capacity.
  • Maintain and govern planning and reporting systems using Oracle suite of applications (EPM Cloud, SmartView Ad hoc query).
  • Provide business application support in a production environment to meet Service Level Agreements.

What will you do:

  • Responsible to provide day-to-day user and operational support for the Oracle EPM Cloud applications, including but not limited to identification, tracking, and troubleshooting of system issues, and administration/maintenance of system configurations.
  • Gather, document, examine and manage business requirements/user stories on baseline initiatives by following the current company development methodology.
  • Develop written documentation, which is clear, understandable, audience appropriate and accurately captures the key information required to resolve issues.
  • Communicate with our business partners in an effective and timely manner.
  • Coordinate or participate in obtaining estimates from all team members and provide those to the business for review and approval for baseline initiatives.
  • Take ownership of support issues and engage the appropriate resources to resolve them.
  • Ensure potential issues or operational risks are tracked and escalated in a timely manner.
  • Participate fully as a member of the team by supporting a work environment that promotes knowledge sharing, customer service, quality, innovation and teamwork.
  • Testing of enhancements with a focus on end-to-end validation prior to moves to production.
  • Apply business requirements gathering/user stories and analysis techniques to develop quality business requirements and facilitate the communication between the business and technology areas to address business issues.
  • May also be involved in working with the Project Manager/Lead Business Consultant/Product Owner to assist with the successful delivery of enhancements or other initiatives to support business needs.

What you need to succeed:

  • Undergraduate degree (or diploma) in Business, Computer Sciences, Math, or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Business Systems Analyst or Operations Analyst role in a production support environment
  • Prior exposure to Oracle EPM Cloud and SmartView or a comparable planning and reporting solution preferred.
  • Accounting knowledge and overall understanding of financial systems is considered an asset.

  • Skilled in test execution and understanding the outcome.
  • Ability to quickly react to unexpected changes in direction and ambiguity.
  • Action oriented, self-motivated, and solutions driven.
  • Utilizes team collaboration to create innovative solutions efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate both business and technical concepts and align organization on decisions.
  • Knowledge of business analysis principles, incident management best practices and industry tools
  • Good understanding of privacy, compliance, controls and security requirements

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
