Position Description

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Events, the Manager, Foundation Events is responsible for the ideation, creation and execution of donor, stewardship and cultivation events as well as Foundation events such as the annual meeting. Partnering closely with the Stewardship and Philanthropy teams, the Manager will act as a strategic consultant in curating elevated and impactful in-person and virtual donor engagement events and donor recognition initiatives that steward and cultivate donor support and involvement in Sunnybrook. The Manager will collaborate with team members to cultivate and maintain strong stakeholder relationships while overseeing their event portfolio. This role may lead or support a range of Sunnybrook events as required such as Partner events and Community Fundraisers.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop event strategies in partnership with Stewardship and Philanthropy teams to engage major donors from both a stewardship and cultivation perspective through the delivery of exceptional event experiences
  • Act as a donor, stewardship and cultivation event expert within Sunnybrook Foundation
  • Actively support fundraising objectives by collaborating with the Philanthropy and Stewardship team to execute and/or support 20+ cultivation and stewardship events each year which engage new donors and steward existing donor relationships
  • Provide leadership and oversight to planning of Foundation and Board events including the Annual meeting
  • Support donor experience initiatives across all event types including namings, announcements, grand openings, unveilings, tours, dinners, cocktail receptions, etc. to recognize and cultivate donors.
  • Work in partnership with the Manager, Engagement Strategy & Recognition to develop metrics to support the maintenance and transformation of the donor engagement event experience, and apply an analytical lens to find channels to receive and assess donor satisfaction, and identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Support the development of event follow-up communications to demonstrate appreciation and gauge success from a donor experience perspective
  • Provide guidance and coaching to two (2) direct reports
  • Establish effective, streamlined processes and practices that support the advancement of the portfolio, Event Team and Foundation’s goals. This includes integrating project management tools cross-functionally to streamline event requests.
  • Effectively monitor project timelines to ensure event execution meets deadlines, all resources are used effectively, budget is managed properly and event implementation is successful
  • Oversee logistical support for cultivation and donor engagement events as required including data requirements, RSVPs, room layout, venue correspondence and catering requirements, technical requirements, décor, signage, volunteers, collection and reconciliation of payments and thank you letters
  • Develop, steward and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within the Hospital, Foundation and volunteers in building awareness and retaining support
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the Events Team

 

Qualifications and Competencies

  • University or college degree in event management, fundraising, non-profit management or related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ of event management fundraising experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the planning and execution of stewardship and cultivation events with a proven understanding of donor event experience best practices, fundraising and donor motivations and accountability
  • Experience creating innovative and impactful donor events at different scales with new, potential and long time donors
  • Strong project management experience leading different teams, with  focus on event management and fundraising
  • Excellent multitasking skills with the ability to work with changing and competing deadlines on changing project scopes, within different teams
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and effective time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work individually with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, Luminate TeamRaiser and Blackbaud platforms is considered an asset 

 

Total Rewards Package

The hiring range for this position is $98,000 - $108,000. The salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s years of experience, qualifications and competencies that are relevant to this position.

In addition to salary, our competitive compensation package also includes, comprehensive health and dental benefits, HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), hybrid work environment with a minimum of two (2) days in office, 2 float days each fiscal year and additional Sunny Days (long weekend closures in advance of summer long weekends and Christmas Eve).
