Description
Summary of Duties
The Patient Care Mmanager (PCM) is responsible for the overall leadership, management and operations of the patient care unit, practice and the quality of care. The manager leads and collaborates with the interprofessional team to achieve operational and person centred care objectives within the unit. The role includes creating and maintaining a supportive environment for patients, families and staff, providing leadership, facilitating staff and team development, managing budgets and resources and initiating and monitoring quality improvement initiatives with the goal of delivering best practice care and optimal patient outcomes. The PCM works with the St. John’s Rehab team to achieve program goals. The PCM is accountable for ensuring that care requirements are met and that patient care issues and concerns identified by patients and their families are addressed.
Qualifications/Skills
- Current registration and member in good standing with an affiliated health professional college
- Baccalaureate Degree in a clinical discipline is required. Master’s degree or working towards designation is preferred.
- Five years of clinical experience
- Three to five years of experience in a leadership role (preferably in rehabilitation)
- Previous experience with stroke and medical rehab including oncology rehab populations is a definite asset
- Experience in a unionized environment preferred
- Knowledge of relevant health care and legislative standards/regulations e.g. public hospitals act, RHPA, AODA, ESA, OHSA, etc.
- Knowledge of health care disciplines in clinical services and their scopes of practice
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft office applications
- Proven effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills
- Proven ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary/interprofessional team
- Proven effective problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change
- Established ability to facilitate evidence based practice
