Summary of Duties

The patient care manager provides leadership for the ambulatory clinics, clinic coordinators and  virtual clinics in Odette Caner Program. The patient care manager leads the team towards a common vision, excellence in patient care, and facilitates the achievement of operational and patient and family cantered care objectives. The role includes creating a supportive environment for patients and staff, facilitating staff and inter-professional team development, managing budgets and material resources, and focusing on quality management.

 

The PCM is also accountable for ensuring that care requirements are met, and that patient care issues, problems and concerns identified by patients and their families are addressed.

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • A Master’s Degree in Clinical/Health Sciences or Management or in progress
  • Regulated health care professional preferred
  • Minimum 4 years outpatient Oncology experience preferred
  • Recent relevant management experience
  • Demonstrated success in achieving goals through collaboration with  major stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and person-centred care, including shared governance and interprofessional care teams
  • The role includes creating and maintaining a supportive environment for patients/families and staff, providing leadership, facilitating staff and team development, managing budgets and material resources, and facilitating quality improvement
  • Proven ability in working with a diverse nursing population whose skill sets span the continuum of experience from novice to expert
  • Ability to work effectively and demonstrates composure under pressure/ stressful conditions and to meet multiple and competing deadlines
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients
  • Proven leadership, coaching, team building, conflict resolution and decision–making skills
  • Demonstrated excellent change management skills
  • Demonstrated coaching and empowering style of management
  • Demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and innovation
  • Superior leadership, communication, team building and decision making skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation affecting human resources (i.e. Human Rights, Employment Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
