Job Overview


The Sunnybrook Research Institute, Department of Psychiatry, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking an energetic and efficient Research Assistant to work within the Suicide Prevention Research Collaborative (SPRC) lab. The SPRC focuses on areas of suicide prevention, mood disorders and public health.

Required:
•    An Honours bachelor’s degree in psychology/public health/epidemiology, with preference given to individuals with at least 2 years of previous research experience in psychology/public health. 
•    Experience extracting data from medical charts or other chart reviews preferred. 
•    Intermediate to expert-level proficiency in statistical analysis using SPSS, R, STATA and/or MPlus
•    Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
•    Experience with handling multiple research tasks within the project, such as maintaining research integrity, ethics management, data entry and dissemination. 
•    Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. 
•    Reading and writing in other languages is desired. 


Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
•    Extract suicide-related data from ~10,000 charts. 
•    Manage our large qualitative chart review database by conducting verification, data cleaning, and data storage. 
•    Assist in interpreting results and preparing material for presentation, publications, and/or grants.
•    Prepare research ethics board applications and amendments, and maintain study compliance with all terms.
•    Work independently as well as within a collaborative environment.
•    Multitask and coordinate multiple projects/studies with guidance from the principal investigator.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.
