TEMPO School in Edmonton is seeking an approximately 0.75 FTE probationary English Language Arts /Social Studies teacher capable of teaching at both the junior and senior high school level. In addition to the English Language Arts/Social Studies portion, teaching the Debate and Speech program component in the afternoon after 2:20pm would be an asset. There is opportunity for this position to increase to 0.8 FTE (approx.) with this additional assignment after the regular Blocks 1-5.
This position will commence on August 27, 2024.
TEMPO School is an independent, provincially accredited, K-12 day school with a student population of 500 students. The school has a traditional, academic focus with small class sizes, uniforms, and high standards of teaching.
All interested applicants must:
-Be capable of teaching courses with provincial achievement tests and diploma exams.
-Be in possession of, or eligible for, a valid Alberta teaching certificate
-Be comfortable teaching in a traditional, academic environment
-Have an excellent command of oral and written English
-Have a strong literary base
-Have strong classroom management skills
-Be comfortable writing curriculum materials as required
-Be willing to work as a team with other teachers
-Be able to motivate students to reach their full potential
A graduate degree in English, Social Studies or a related discipline and experience teaching Advanced Placement would be assets.
