Job Description:

Overview:

SHN Foundation is seeking a skilled, incredibly organized and experienced fundraising professional who is a strong administrator and committed to excellence. Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Development Associate will support two senior managers in Major Gifts and Planned Giving to help advance campaign and estate planning efforts. The Development Associate will be motivated, attentive to detail, and easily build rapport wiwww.sth volunteers, donors and hospital colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

Major Gifts and Campaign Support

  • Support the Director of Major Gifts to advance solicitation and stewardship strategies for major gift prospects and donors.
  • Provide accurate, responsive and professional administrative support including assisting with preparation of proposals, power point presentations, materials for meetings and donor visits, producing agendas, meeting minutes and assist with mailings as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and tours with prospects, donors, and volunteers.
  • Draft correspondence to donors that is customized, compelling, and audience appropriate (including emails, letters, and key inputs to donor proposals).

Moves Management & Data Integrity

  • Work with relationship managers to ensure prospect/donor files in Raiser’s Edge are always up-to-date, and that donor touchpoints and next steps are appropriately documented.
  • Pull reports and data from Raiser’s Edge, ensure accuracy of data, customize for the intended audience, and distribute.
  • Support finance administration related to gifts for MG and Planned Giving (i.e., gift processing forms, invoices, follow up on gift confirmation letters as required, etc.)
  • Assist with planned giving prospect management through accurate and timely coding of seminar invitation, attendance, legacy surveys, donor correspondence, etc.

Planned Giving (PG) Support

  • Assist the Associate Vice President, Gift and Estate Planning with the implementation of planned giving strategies to secure legacy expectancies as well as mid-level and major gifts
  • Coordinate and organize 3-4 estate planning seminars including event logistics (room booking, catering, AV requirement), as well as collaborate with Marketing & Communications for invitation and registration page design, scheduling of e-blasts, and post-event survey.
  • Assist with delivering PG marketing campaigns through digital channels and print media
  • Assist with advisor outreach by identifying, contacting, and tracking Scarborough lawyers and wealth advisors about SHN through legacy brochure distribution.
  • Organize and manage the logistics of two Chair’s Council dinners per year and other meetings as required.
  • Assist the Stewardship Team with the annual Legacy Circle appreciation event

Cross-functional Team Engagement

  • In partnership with colleagues across the Foundation, assist with special campaign cultivation and stewardship events, and select signature events organized by the community development team, which may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5+ years’ experience, preferably at a fundraising or charitable organization.
  • Excellent writing skills with ability to produce a variety of materials.
  • Highly attentive to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills to allow prioritizing of workload, working within tight timelines, and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills (Microsoft Office), including importing, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, graphics and other relevant tools/methodologies to prepare proposals, spreadsheets, invoices, graphs, reports, slides, table of contents, indexes and other documentation/materials.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge donor database is required.
  • Very strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals in situations that often require eliciting or sustaining cooperation and participation.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with individuals with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively under pressure.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma
