Job Description:
Position Overview:
This position plays an integral role in the Human Resources department, providing administrative support and coordination for the Employee and Labour Relations Team. In addition to being a strong, independent resource, this position is an integral team member who is proactive in determining priorities, exercising judgement and discretion with confidential information as well as support and promotes positive internal and external relationships.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and participates in all committee meetings, prepares materials e.g. reports, presentations, initiates the development of agendas and follow-up items and generates detailed meeting minutes from all labour relations committee meetings.
• Provides administrative support by creating and organizing grievance files, maintaining the active grievance and mediation/arbitration log(s) and records detailed notes at all grievance and mediation/arbitration hearings
• Track grievances, resolutions and other dispute resolution activities and utilizes the data to provide metrics and contextual information
• Provides administrative support in the preparation prior to and during local bargaining / negotiations and acts as official recorder
• Generates quarterly and fiscal departmental reports related to grievances, investigations, etc.
• Generates quarterly union billing reports, prepares invoices, reconciles payments and tracks all relevant data for record-keeping purposes
Requirements:
• Three year community college diploma in Human Resources/Labour Relations
• Experience in Labour Relations in a unionized setting, or in Human Resources
• Minimum two (2) years related Human Resources Generalist experience preferably in a Healthcare and unionized environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Experience working as part of a large scale project
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and handle conflicting priorities
• Analytical and Research skills
• Proficient in MS Office, Virtual Collaboration Platforms (MS Teams, Zoom) and HRIS
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills
• Demonstrated focus on internal/external customer service and partnerships
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
• Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
• Excellent work performance and attendance record
