Job Description:

Overview:

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Gift & Estate Planning, the Senior Development Officer (SDO), Leadership and Planned Giving, is a member of the Philanthropy team. Our ideal candidate will lead the creation and implementation of a robust mid-level program with expected annual giving range of $1,000-$50,000. The incumbent will manage the mid-level file and actively engage with donors and prospects by implementing effective identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies to grow program revenue and identify major and planned giving donors.

The SDO, Leadership and Planned Giving, works in collaboration with all departments and stakeholders to ensure that donors have a seamless and rewarding donor experience when giving to Scarborough Health Network Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, develop, and sustain positive relationships with a portfolio of 600 mid-level donors giving between $1,000 and $50,000. The portfolio includes mainly individuals, foundations, a small number of companies, and community groups.
  • From the mid-level file, identify 100-150 donors who are most likely to respond to personal engagement and establish and nurture a one-to-one personal connection with them.
  • Develop effective fundraising tactics to secure or increase annual support, and identify major and planned giving donors.
  • Call and email donors on a daily basis and engage donors face to face such as meetings and touring facilities where required.
  • Provide updates and reports, both financial and other metrics, on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Assist with planned giving initiatives such as educational seminars, legacy appeals, and advisor outreach
  • Maintain accurate records and information in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications team to develop proposals, emails, stewardship materials as required.
  • Collaborate with the Stewardship team to ensure appropriate stewardship and recognition of mid-level donors.
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • University degree /college diploma in relevant field required.
  • A minimum of four to five years of progressive fundraising experience; experience in healthcare philanthropy would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in annual or mid-level giving, supporting major gifts or planned giving
  • Proven ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Proven experiences in soliciting and closing gifts at the $1,000 - $50,000+ level, maintaining and building new and long-term relationships with prospects, donors and volunteers;
  • Highly attentive to details
  • Experience with and working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge.
  • Demonstrated initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detail, and creativity.
  • Strong organizational and analytic skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to successfully interact with donors, senior volunteers and stakeholders.
  • Occasional work evenings and weekends to attend events
