With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is seeking full-time Talent Acquisition Specialist within the Human Resources department.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the direction of Manager, Talent Acquisition and reporting to the Recruitment Specialist, the primary function of this position is to provide assistance with the management of all Recruitment related activities and includes a variety of employee group positions, to support the schools and system.

  • Maintain oversight of the recruitment and selection process in a manner that is consistent with TCDSB's policies and procedures and industry/Recruitment best practices
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, decision-making discretion (within established protocol and guidelines), tact and judgement
  • Conduct research and implement sourcing strategies (passive and active) for positions including professional association job boards, social media data mining
  • Research, recommend and develop talent pipelines for specific positions
  • Develop candidate profile to determine best technical and organizational fit for the role
  • Short-list and pre-qualify candidates based on candidate profile, consistent with TCDSB's policies and procedures and conduct reference checks
  • Develop and recommend relevant interview questions, including behavioral based questions
  • Participate in assessment processes including interviews as a subject matter expert and a representative of the Human Resources Department
  • Assist the Recruitment Specialist and the Management Team with special recruitment campaigns and projects
  • Collect, analyze and complete reports on talent acquisition KPIs, metrics and trends to determine effectiveness of talent acquisition strategies and initiatives and recommend improvements or new initiatives as appropriate
  • Research and stay informed of labour market trends
  • Deliver training sessions on the talent acquisition process and facilitate orientation sessions for new hires
  • Coordinate required activities to promote the TCDSB brand at job fairs and ongoing outreach recruitment programs
  • Provide advice and Recruitment support to clients in relation to relevant Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Maintain recruitment files and follow-up systems
  • Participate in networking events, workshops and seminars to maintain and develop subject matter knowledge, expertise and best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2-year College Diploma in Human Resource Management or equivalent program(s) or an equivalent combination of education, training and Recruitment experience;
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience conducting full-cycle recruitment activities in a similar position, with preferred focus in a unionized, public sector organization
  • Experience with contemporary strategic talent sourcing, outreach, and selection using a variety of active and passive sourcing approaches to attract and hire top talent
  • Extensive computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS and Applicant Tracking System
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure while managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving, time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent client-service orientation with the ability to effectively perform the recruitment challenge function
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Certified Human Resources designation an asset
  • Position may require participation in team events such as job fairs
  • In-depth experience with ATS Recruitment software would be considered an asset
