Technical Analyst - Enterprise, Computing Infrastructure

With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is seeking a full-time Technical Analyst - Enterprise Computing Infrastructure within the Information & Communication Technology department.

Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Senior Manager - Technology Infrastructure, this position is responsible to provide effective planning, design, implementation, management, system administration, troubleshooting and maintenance support of the enterprise on premise and cloud-based computing infrastructures and data storage and backup systems including research, evaluation and technical assessment of new technologies to meet business objectives.
- Proactively monitor and manage the computing infrastructure and services, and data storage and backup systems. Perform installation, configuration, system administration, maintenance, and support to ensure uptime, reliability, availability, integrity, and cybersecurity protection
- Provide Tier 2 technical support, problem analysis, root cause determination and documentation of the service problem/outage and the corresponding resolution response and/or escalation as necessary
- Contribute to the modernization and improvement of the enterprise computing, data storage and backup environment through exploration, research, feasibility assessment and evaluation of emerging trends and new technologies
- Develop project plans and provide implementation and coordination for new or upgraded computing infrastructure, data storage and backup systems, and related systems to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance
- Coordinate computing infrastructure and storage system related software and firmware upgrades and decommissioning of end-of-life equipment
- Provide technical inputs and recommendations for business cases, reports and RFPs/RFQs
- Prepare technical and functional specifications, standards, guidelines, processes and procedures, end-user documentation and provide technical in-services and presentations
- Create and present technical change requests to the designated change management authority
- Provide technical guidance and direction to junior staff and manage work performed by external vendors and consultants to ensure requirements, work quality and service level standards are met
- Take a proactive approach to learn and stay updated on current and emerging technology and industry trends
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree from a recognized university or college in an Information Technology related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Microsoft, Azure, VMware, and Dell/EMC certification or equivalent qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with designing, implementing, system administration and supporting enterprise computing infrastructures and data storage and backup systems in a complex, large scale, and cloud environment
- Experience in Research, evaluation and technical assessment of new technologies to meet business objectives
- Experience with the latest Microsoft on premise and Azure cloud technologies, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Dell/EMC server, desktop and application virtualization technologies based on VMware, Citrix and/or Microsoft, PowerShell and scripting, enterprise patch management, system monitoring, identity management, communication and collaboration systems, SQL, digital certificates, public cloud platforms, and IT security concepts and best practices
- Experience with storage and data backup systems including software, SAN switch architectures, fabric zoning, LUN provisioning techniques, RAID considerations, and CIFS protocols
- Experience, knowledge and skills with enterprise desktop environments based on Windows, Apple, and Google Chrome technologies, and Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace platforms
- Proven knowledge and skills with TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, gateways, firewalls and security
- Excellent acritical thinking, planning and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve enterprise computing infrastructure and data storage and backup system issues
- Ability to lead technical infrastructure projects and coordinate efforts with other teams and external vendors to deliver the project and meet business objectives
- Strong skills creating technical and end-user documentation, in-services and presentations with the ability to communicate technical concepts to audiences with varying technology literacy
- Strong organizational skills and independent decision-making abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required for travel to Board and non-Board sites (eligibility for mileage reimbursement)
- Availability to work outside of core office hours, as required
The position will require the incumbent to be available for “on call” work and must be flexible to work after hours including evenings and weekends. A valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required for travel to Board and non-Board sites.
This is a non-union Level 9 position with a salary range of $85,621 - $102,747 along with comprehensive benefits including pension plan, vacation, and professional development opportunities.
