The Academic Programming Assistant will be responsible for developing, communicating, and supporting the academic programming initiatives within the CBS BSc programs. They will be required to:

  • Develop, communicate and support the implementation of resources and summaries relating to college level academic needs to faculty, staff, and students in written, verbal and graphic forms, both online in physical forms.
    • These needs include, but are not limited to, aligning and optimizing best teaching practice, pedagogy, and assessment in science education with varying class sizes including large (>400 students) and massive (>1000 students) classes.
  • Work with departments within CBS to assess curricular goals, evaluate needs and support the implementation of curricular revisions.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data to support ADA or college level academic projects, including, but not limited to:
    • Developing and implementing student success initiatives for CBS students
    • Maintaining and analyzing student success surveys to provide data-driven curriculum updates and renewal suggestions.
    • Support the Continuous Curriculum Review process including collecting and analyzing learning outcomes achievement data across CBS curriculum.
    • Assisting with administering institutional program reviews.
  • Coordinate and support college level course offerings.
  • Support the administration of the BIOS major
  • Represent the college at promotional and recruitment events

Requirements of the job

  • Undergraduate degree in biological science (MSc preferred)
  • At least 6 months of previous experience in learning and development
  • Experience with course design, including developing learning outcomes and implementing or supporting various modes of delivery and assessments.
  • Prior experience in course coordination, assessment and grading assessments
  • Experience with a learning management system
  • Experience with implementing Universal Instructional Design Principles would be an asset
