General Purpose

The University of Guelph is seeking dynamic and motivated individuals to join the HR Services team within Human Resources. It is an exciting time to join Human Resources as the University is in the final stages of a multi-year project to implement SAP SuccessFactors, the new Human Resources Management system solution.

This role will report to the Manager, HR Services and will be a key point of contact for employees, retirees and departmental administrators.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This role will play an integral part in the transition of team members to our new system/platform Gryphons at Work

  • You will participate in the final stages of a multi-year project to implement SAP SuccessFactors, our new Human Resources Management System.

  • Become an expert on the new payroll system within SAP Success Factors. As an expert you will work within the system to mitigate regulatory, operational, and financial risk.

  • Ensure the timely processing of the University’s bi-weekly payroll. Being an expert on understanding payroll legislation, University Policies and collective agreements/ handbooks provisions to ensure employees are paid in a manner that is compliant, accurate and timely.

  • Investigate and resolve payroll and benefit issues, exercising judgement as to what corrective action must be taken.

  • Support new employee information sessions and ensure accurate enrolment in employee group benefit/pension plans.

  • Work closely with other members of the total compensation team.

Requirements

  • Two-year community college diploma and have attained (or in the process of attaining) the Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification. Demonstrate understanding of payroll principles.

  • Experience working with HRIS or payroll systems. SAP Success Factors is an asset for this role.

  • Several years of previous experience working in a payroll and employee group benefits function. With an eye for attention to detail and accuracy. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional customer service skills, providing assistance and responding to questions regarding payroll and benefits.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Applications to help you effectively manage multiple priorities.

  • High degree of sensitivity and diplomacy.
