Description
Department mission
The mission of the Culture, Sports, Leisure and Community Development Department is to improve quality of life by promoting accessibility, participation, and integration of all citizens through the provision of excellent community, cultural, sports and recreational facilities, activities, and services.
Responsibilities and goals associated with the position
The Weight Room Monitor is responsible for the safety and well-being of the diverse clientele using the Weight Room. He or she can be called upon to create and demonstrate personal training programs.
The incumbent’s main responsibilities are:
- Assess client needs and abilities;
- Supervise client safety;
- Educate clients on lifestyle choices;
- Attend annual conferences and workshops;
- Report malfunctioning equipment;
- Keep up-to-date statistics;
- Act as first responder in emergency situations;
- Create, demonstrate and monitor personal training programs;
- Perform any other related task.

Requirements
- Hold a high school diploma and six months of relevant experience in the fitness industry or in customer service;
- Personal trainer certification;
- CPR certification;
- AED certification;
- Bilingual (English and French, written and spoken);
- Skills sought: Client-focused, good interpersonal communication, thoroughness, oral and written communication, autonomy and initiative.
Schedule
Must work a minimum of 8 hours per week. Work shifts are mainly in the early morning, evening or on the weekend
Hourly salary
$17.05 to $22.69 / hour (White Collar – Annex C)
