JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Clinical and Administrative Director of Nursing, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the director in implementing the vision and strategic alignment of the nursing executive office. They participate in the analysis, planning, organization, control and evaluation of all Network nursing activities, to support a vision of quality care.
The Assistant Director provides sustained and strategic leadership within the Nursing Professional Practice and Administrative Team, to promote professionalism and excellence in patient care. They develop, influence and integrate evidence-based initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Undergraduate degree in health sciences
- Graduate degree in health services management
- Active member of a regulatory body
- Any other training or experience deemed relevant to an assistant director’s role
- A minimum of five years’ experience demonstrating progressive leadership in nursing and with other health care and professional practice professionals, such as management, direction, participation in policy and procedure development, management of Network priority projects, involvement in professional association matters relevant to the practice of nursing and other health care professionals, and certification/specialization in their area of clinical practice
- 10-15 years' experience as a health care professional
- Written and spoken proficiency in both official languages
- Strong strategic thinking and management skills, including program planning, development and evaluation, conflict resolution, human resources management, analysis and problem solving, as well as critical thinking and excellent coaching skills
- Demonstrate a strategic leadership style that is patient-focused, results-oriented and aligned with Network objectives
- Inspire commitment, demonstrate respect, compassion, fairness, justice, self-awareness, honesty, integrity, optimism, confidence and resilience
- Be a leader capable of creating the conditions required to carry out major transformation processes
- Be visionary, accept responsibility and promote the use of evidence in decision making
- Be an effective communicator and have good interpersonal skills
- Be able to form productive partnerships and support, empower and recognize their collaborators
- Proficiency with IT tools such as the Microsoft Office suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and various Meditech software applications, and an understanding of the workload measurement system
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network’s management philosophy, and organizational values;
- Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
