JOB SUMMARY :

The Assistant Manager, Environmental Services, is a key member of the team, responsible for both day-to-day operations and the success of service advancement projects.

This leader handles unexpected events, varied tasks, conflicts, administrative duties and supervisory tasks on a daily basis. The Assistant Manager may be responsible for a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to, creating work rotations and assignments, directly verifying the work quality of environmental services workers, employee pay and performance appraisals, staff education, and visiting satellite facilities, as well as hiring, coaching, mentoring and disciplining employees.

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services, the Assistant Manager supports departmental decision-making processes and plays a key role in the development, implementation and success of service improvement projects. They may also be required to assist the Manager in strategic meetings related to the following:

  • quality assurance (audit), coaching and updating
  • standardization of workload measurement
  • deployment of management programs
  • participation in construction plans for the facility
  • consultations and meetings with Human Resources and union representatives
  • collaboration on various pilot projects

The Assistant Manager is called upon to manage employees who physically work in other facilities in their zone. As part of their duties, the incumbent will be required to travel within their region or within the Network’s territory.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Post-secondary training in management or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree, an asset
  • A minimum of three years' relevant work experience
  • Recognized or proven staff supervision or management skills
  • Innovative and collaborative management style
  • Ability to motivate and engage people and to act as a change agent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with current IT tools (Microsoft 365, Meditech and Kronos – an asset)
  • Proficiency in French and functional knowledge of English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work
  • Good work history (performance and attendance)
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules
