JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the codirector of the NB Francophone Family Medicine Training Program, Department of Family Medicine Head and the concerned Medical Director, the Community family physician engages in the teaching of family medicine residents and performs non-specialized clinical work providing medical care to patients of the Greater Moncton Family Practice Unit (FPU).

The physician's duties at the FPU include supervising, observing, and teaching family medicine residents, as well as performing medical procedures related to the diagnosis and treatment of illness. He or she plays an active role in the teaching, administrative and management activities of the FPU. He or she is also called upon to work closely with various health professionals, as required.

Family physicians at the FPU are also called upon to participate in research activities in their field. Family physicians at the FPU may be called upon to play an active role in intra- and extra-hospital care..

REQUIREMENTS:

  • The physician must hold a degree from a recognized medical school and a residency with a family medicine licence;
  • A recognized medical school is one that meets the following criteria;
  • Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the U.S.);

OR

  • Listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a Canadian rating. Must be certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or equivalent.

 

  • Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
  • Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) or equivalent liability insurance association;
  • Membership in the New Brunswick Medical Society (NBMS);
  • Privileges with Vitalité Health Network;
  • Registration with New Brunswick Medicare;
  • Hold a Clinical Teaching Professor appointment with the University of Sherbrooke's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, or be committed to pursuing the necessary steps to obtain one;
  • One (1) to three (3) years' experience in medicine;
  • Teaching experience will be considered an asset;
  • Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant, and equivalent may be considered;
  • Ability to accompany, supervise, observe and teach family medicine residents and externs;
  • Ability to maintain composure;
  • Sense of organization and responsibility;

NOTES:

  1. The salary for this position is fee-for-service.
