The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

Applications for the below teaching position at St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres are invited from all qualified and interested applicants. This is a temporary position, which may be extended by mutual agreement.

SSC Guidance Counsellor

Dates: November 11, 2024 - June 27, 2025 (Monday - Friday)

Position: Guidance Counsellor

Time: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM with a 30 min unpaid lunch (35 hours/week)

Location: St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centers

80 Young St. Kitchener

General Description of Duties:

Academic counselling for registering students

Advising/Assisting with post-secondary applications and workplace transition

Providing resources to students regarding college, university, and apprenticeship programs

Providing resources and connections to community supports for student wellness needs

Assessing students and granting PLAR or Maturity credits, and maintaining detailed records

Assisting with transcript verification for graduation planning

Working in a fast-paced environment with continuous student intake

M inimum Requirements:

Current OCT with Senior Level Qualifications

Guidance Qualifications - Part 1

Desirable Assets:

Guidance Specialist

Experience working with Adult Learners

Expertise in the field of Academic counselling and Student Pathways

Experience with the University/College Application Process

Experience working in Guidance

Experience with PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition) process

Understanding of OS (Ontario Schools), OSSD requirements, and course pre-requisites

Knowledge of St. Louis programs and processes

Salary Level : $47.27/hr plus stat and vacation = $50.83/hr (under review)
