100% Permanent - UNASSIGNED CARETAKER
Location: Various
Start Date: asap
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Shift: Afternoon Shift: scheduled within the time of 3:30pm - 11:30pm
Starting Rate: $25.82 per hour*
*Additional $0.85/hr shift premium applies on afternoon shift
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Caretaker-in-charge, the Staff Caretaker will be responsible for:
Cleaning all areas of the school building on a daily basis, as well as clearing ice and snow, performing minor repairs and grounds work, handling garbage, securing the building, reporting maintenance issues, interaction with Community Use groups as required, handling alarm and emergency situations while on shift, and other duties as assigned by the Caretaker-in-Charge.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
A Grade 12 Secondary School diploma, or equivalent
A thorough understanding of both the Health and Safety Regulations and the W.H.I.M.S. Program
Excellent Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of computer applications as required by the position
Ability to operate the school’s computerized HVAC system
Good eye/hand coordination to safely operate equipment and small tools
Previous related experience
Practical hands on knowledge of caretaking duties in an institutional environment is an asset
