Under the direction of the Manager, Health Services and the Coordinator, Volunteer Services, completes clerical support functions related to Volunteer Services.
- Previous experience in the health care environment preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar position preferred.
- Previous experience with Excel, Word, Power Point, Publisher and Outlook required.
- Previous experience in basic accounting skills preferred.
- Grade XII graduate, Manitoba Standards.
- Successful completion of a recognized clerical/administrative assistant training program required.

- Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint), the use of the Internet and HIPPO program.
- Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Knowledge of roles and responsibilities of members of the health care team.
- Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
- Keyboarding skills with an accuracy of 50 wpm.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, using good judgment and asking for guidance, direction when necessary.
- Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
- Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
- Ability to select appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
- Ability to support committee functions through scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking notes/minutes and other required duties.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents/clients, family members and co-workers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain accurate files and records.
- Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
- Ability to use systems and equipment typical of an office environment.
- Ability to work safely without injury to self, to patients/residents/clients, or to other staff.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
