Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

The successful applicant may be eligible for an annual full-time incentive of up to $2,000 each year until 2025 as per MOU #31 of the current MNU collective agreement.

Position Overview

Assists with clinical direction, guidance and contributes to the assessment of the clinical practice of staff in collaboration with the Manager Health Services and in accordance with CRPNM or CRNM or other accepted Standards of Practice.

Experience
  • Training and demonstrated skill in several clinical modalities.
  • Knowledge of ecological systems theory, culturally competent practice, community-based mental health service delivery and the bio-psychosocial approach to mental health.
  • Knowledge of various neurological disorders, eg. autism, cognitive disabilities, genetic syndromes.
  • Must be familiar with psychotropic medications.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, and mental health issues in childhood and adolescence with an emphasis on Tourette’s, ADHD, ASD, Intellectual disability and Anxiety.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must be familiar with current behavioural strategies and interventions.
  • Child and Adolescent mental health experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience in mental health is required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • A Graduate from an approved program in Psychiatric Nursing or Nursing.
  • BSc Mental Health post-diploma, BSc Psychiatric Nursing or BSc Nursing post-diploma preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Staff not licensed/registered with a legislated professional body must be registered/certified with an appropriate Association.
  • Active registration with CRPNM or CRNM is required.

  • Provides leadership and clinical direction to the team as required in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Performs as clinical expert in orientation of staff and the delivery of care.
  • Contributes to an environment that encourages continuous learning, application of knowledge, critical thinking and the application of evidence based research.
  • Guides and contributes to the assessment of the clinical practice of the inter-professional team.
  • Fosters an inter-professional collaborative team approach. Demonstrates an ability to mediate and resolve conflict.
  • Fosters and demonstrates a commitment to and understanding of population health, health equity and cultural competency.
  • Assists the Program Manager in identifying the need for change in current practice and assists with the implementation of required changes based on client population needs and client care requirements in conjunction with standards, guidelines, policy and legislation.
  • Participates in meetings, committees, councils and teams to improve client care and the work environment. Effectively communicates information to the team.
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) both internally and with external partners.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, families and community partners to provide assessment, education, and interventions.
  • Provide treatment interventions for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Provides consultation and education around medication and monitoring of side effects.
  • Supports and provides education to parents and caregivers.
  • Provides education to the community.
  • Provides support to psychiatrist in a clinical setting as required.
  • Maintain documentation as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
