Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
The Mental Health Clinician will provide treatment services to children who are referred to the Community Child & Adolescent Treatment Service (CCATS) at MATC and their families. The clients in CCATS range in age from 6-18 years and have a wide range of behavioral, emotional and mental health concerns that impact on their home, school and community environments. Services to this group are delivered in a community-based setting and may be of a short, intermittent, or medium duration, utilizing bio-psycho-social and systemic frameworks.
- 3-5 years’ experience preferred working-with children, youth and families.
- Experience and training in treatment models related to developmental trauma and/or attachment.
- Experience and training in any of the following: group treatments with parents and children, DBT, CBT are assets.
- Experience working with diverse cultural groups including First Nations and Newcomers is desirable.
- Qualified as a Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Social Worker (MSW), Family Therapist (MFT), or equivalent.
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Staff not licensed/registered with a legislated professional body must be registered/certified with an appropriate Association.
- Training and demonstrated skill in several of the following areas: clinical assessment, individual, group, family therapy, systems intervention, mental health promotion activities.
- Commitment to working with families from diverse backgrounds with approaches that maximize accessibility.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships and to work within a multi-disciplinary team of community-based organizations, child welfare, health, and educational systems.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, and mental health issues in childhood and adolescence including suicide risk assessments and risk management.
- Knowledge of, community-based mental health service delivery, culturally competent practice, and the bio psychosocial approach to mental health are desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma and its impact, including the effects of colonization and intergenerational trauma on children, youth and their families.
- Understanding and appreciation of impact of our history related to colonization and outcomes from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission including its Calls to Action.
