Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The OESH Technician - Case Management is responsible for providing triage services, initial assessment, support, and assistance to the Disability Management Coordinators. Acts as a secondary contact for the Disability Management Coordinator to injured/ill workers, WRHA supervisory and Human Resources personnel, and external stakeholders.

Duties include:

  • Providing and obtaining information by telephone or correspondence.
  • Assisting in monitoring the progress of the case management plan.
  • Following up on requests for medical information.
  • Following up with injured/ill workers, supervisors, third party insurers or healthcare provider.
Experience
  • One-year previous case management experience including the ability to obtain, assess and evaluate information from a variety of sources (worker, supervisor, insurers, healthcare providers, etc.), and prioritize disability management case files according to urgency for service.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Formal case management courses/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Training in health and safety preferred.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Able to re-prioritize the workload as/when information changes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word & Outlook) required.
  • Knowledge of the Workers Compensation Board, Manitoba Public Insurance, and Long-Term Disability Plans preferred.
  • Knowledge of human resource management principles and related legislation preferred.
  • Knowledge of PHIA and FIPPA preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to maintain written file documentation to standards, generate correspondence to various sources.
  • Able to organize a high workload under competing demands with frequent interruptions, and prioritize workload accordingly.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service in sometimes conflicted or confrontational circumstances.
  • Able to work as part of a team, and independently with minimal direction.
