Job Summary:
Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Speech-Language Pathologist, as part of the interdisciplinary health care teams, will collaborate toassist in the development of CancerCare Manitoba’ Speech Language Pathology Services within the provincial mandate of CancerCareManitoba. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the Speech-Language Pathologist will provide clinical services to patients and families,act as a resource to CancerCare Manitoba and our Community Oncology Program partner, offer educational programs to patients andstaff, and actively participate in training and research. Services will be provided at both CancerCare Manitoba Units (MacCharles andSt. Boniface). Occasional travel to other CCMB sites may be required.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Five (5) years’ experience in Speech-Language Pathology (an equivalent combination of training and experience with above may be considered)
- Current registration and Certificate of Practice with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Manitoba(CASLPM)
- Registration and membership in the Manitoba Speech & Hearing Association (MSHA)
- Certified by CASLPM in the following advanced competency:
- Videofluroscopic Assessment of Adult Swallowing Disorders (VFAS-A)
- Proficient with MS Word/Excel/Outlook
- Ability to travel to other sites
- Must hold a satisfactory employment record
- Must be able to legally work in Canada
Will be assessed during the interview process:
- Demonstrated commitment to an interdisciplinary model of care including strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of staff and the public.
- Ability to design, deliver and evaluate Speech-Language Pathology programs and services.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Physical and mental health to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
Preferred:
- Certified by CASLPM in the following advanced competencies:
- Voice Restoration through the use of voice prostheses (VRVP)
- Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation and Management of Voice Disorders (FEEV)
- Swallowing and voice restoration through the use of tracheotomy tubes or speaking valves (SVR)
- Experience in oncology
- Experience in a hospital/health care setting especially in an outpatient setting
- Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary care teams
- Leadership and professional development
- Availability for additional casual hours
Asset:
- Ability to speak French
