$67,219.72 - $80,543.99 per year

The Building Department is responsible for coordinating the physical environment with the people and the work of the Division, and manages Division facilities by integrating the principles of business administration, architecture and the behavioral and engineering sciences. Under the general direction of the Board of Trustees, the Building Department delivers infrastructure needs of the Division in consultation with senior administration, school administrators and community advisory groups.

Under the supervision and direction of Director of Facilities Management, the Stores Buyer is responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of Stores including monitoring the computerized inventory system; ensuring products are received; preparing quotations for new and replacement purchases of inventory; supervising staff within the Stores area; and other various duties as required.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Monitors the computerized inventory ordering system for incoming orders and clarifies order ambiguities with customers as required.

Reviews Division purchases along with individual requests and recommends which items should be added to Stores inventory.

Coordinates the inventory count of all stock in the warehouse; reviews the inventory report results as required and provides a breakdown of variances; and investigates and reports any variances accordingly.

Ensures products are received and not damaged and are checked against the bill of lading for quantity, destination, etc. Resolves any concerns with suppliers or carriers, forwards accordingly.

Prepares quotations for new and replacement purchases of inventory in Stores and other maintenance related activities in the Division.

Analyze quotations received from suppliers; works with the trades staff and management to determine the quantities to be ordered and to develop a delivery schedule while ensuring all purchasing/inventory economies are met.

Supervises staff within the Stores area, including coordinating, scheduling, and assigning work.

Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as reviewing and developing Stores policies and procedures; scheduling, organizing and coordinating all shipping, receiving and delivery duties; reporting all excessive repair estimates and providing details of those tools identified as being beyond repair; ensures up to date information such as, WHMIS information, transportation of hazardous goods information, Winnipeg School Division policies and procedures and Stores policies and procedures are made available for all staff.

Work together with other members of the Division to ensure that all piping and related fittings meet the code requirements of the Division’s Quality Control Program.

Qualifications:

Complete secondary education with a Warehouse Inventory Control Management certificate, and/or a Purchasing and Materials Management certificate, and/or Principles of Buying or Inventory Control courses or the equivalent from a recognized institution.

Five years of relevant experience.

Two to three years of supervisory experience in a related environment is also required.

Forklift certificate considered an asset.

Demonstrated experience in shipping, receiving, and storing controlled products under WHMIS.

Knowledge of basic warehouse design and layout, along with computerized inventory control software and Microsoft Office is required.
