Over three weeks in July 2025, the Department of Education will be offering summer literacy camps for students entering either Grade 2 or Grade 3 next school year.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Schools: Whitehorse schools to be determined
Position: Teacher - several positions at various schools, ½ days
Assignment: Summer Numeracy Camp
Start Date: July 7, 2025
End Date: July 25, 2025
Over three weeks in July 2025, the Department of Education will be offering summer numeracy camps for students entering either Grade 3 or Grade 4 next school year.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent;
- Recent experience teaching at an Elementary level (k-7);
- Experience incorporating First Nations culture and teachings
- Recent training or professional development in current best practices in numeracy (asset)
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
- Ability to plan, organize and manage primary students in a physical classroom setting;
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills;
- Knowledge of and sensitivity towards the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a culturally diverse student population.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Preference will be given to teachers currently employed by the Department of Education;
- To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first.
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
