THE ROLE: 

AMD is looking for a senior software engineer who can support the Software Documentation team. The individual will be expected to lead and collaborate with component teams across SW organizations (including documentation technical writers) to add features, update and maintain configurations, and track and review changes for documentation sites.  

THE PERSON: 

Looking for a highly motivated hands-on doer with a strong development background and problem-solving mentality. Excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and a willingness to learn and adapt. Excellent teamwork skills and capable of leading/working with a team in a fast-paced environment.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Implement good practices and maintain tools and infrastructure that enable teams to deliver high-quality software documentations to end customers.

  • Communicate with infrastructure and be responsible for the designing sites, ensuring sites build functionality & manage/support documentation sites Collaborate with developers & technical writers to map out deliverables, track, expect the unexpected and most of all deliver to commitments. 

  • Automate deployment, configuration, and management processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency. 

  • Monitor resource utilization, site reliability, and map a route to resolving issues to maximize uptime. 

  • Develop and maintain documentation: procedures, processes, work within current framework. 

  • Define solid methods for managing past, current, and future documentation releases. 

  • Problem solving, driving to a resolution, as well as looking at alternative routes. 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • Strong experience as a Software Engineer with the responsibility of creating and maintaining modern Python tools. 

  • In depth knowledge and experience in software development practices, such as using Git, performing code reviews, unit testing, and promotion of code to production environments. 

  • Proven experience with languages: Python, Bash, Shell/PowerShell 

  • Expertise in both *nix (RHEL, Ubuntu etc.) and windows operating systems. 

  • Utilization of software development practices such as Agile development, continuous feedback, automation tooling, and shift left. 

  • Linux System administrator experience is an asset.  

  • Previous experience with ‘Read the Docs’ or similar documentation hosting platform is an asset.

  • Experience with Sphinx or Doxygen documentation generators is an asset.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering field strongly preferred
