Job Summary

The Director of Business Excellence will direct data management practices and master data initiatives essential for delivering comprehensive reporting and technical solutions. This role will ensure the delivery of key performance measures and metrics that support strategic objectives and provide oversight of the corporate development portfolio and budget.

Additionally, the Director will work closely with the portfolio management team to ensure seamless connectivity across the entire pipeline, from end to end.

Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Influence Executive Decisions: Shape executive-level decisions on partnerships and BD deals wit comprehensive business intelligence data analytics, driving enterprise growth.
  • Strategic Development: Create and present investment cases, business development deal status reports, dashboards, and executive presentations, providing crucial insights for strategic initiatives.
  • Contract Adherence and Financial Oversight: Oversee contract adherence, ensuring all contractual payments to partners (including milestone payments, license fees, royalties, and profit-sharing payments) are accurate, timely, and tracked against financial plans, with substantial financial responsibility and impact for any discrepancies.
  • Corporate Development Support: Provide expert support for Corporate Development Monthly Operating Reviews (MOR), Board updates, the 5-Year Plan, and Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement and promote best practices and metrics for tracking the business development funnel and pipeline, leveraging AI tools where possible for enhanced efficiency.
  • Contract Management Oversight: Manage the contract management system, ensuring compliance and availability of critical information.
  • Cross-Functional Strategy Leadership: Lead and manage cross-functional strategic projects, collaborating with stakeholders across the company, and driving business cases for product stage gates.
  • Performance Reporting: Generate and oversee reporting cycles to deliver key performance insights and priorities to various stakeholders.
  • Financial Collaboration: Work closely with finance to:
    • Prepare financial scenarios and sensitivity analyses for investment cases on potential products/deals versus agreed-upon thresholds.
    • Pressure test financial forecasts and assumptions included in Net Present Value (NPV) calculations and investment cases.
    • Participate in Corporate Development Monthly Meetings and Quarterly Reviews, assisting in target setting and ongoing performance reporting.
    • Oversee risk assessments and financial due diligence for current and potential strategic partners.
    • Review and approve external business development partner profit-sharing calculations and milestone payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with contract terms and obligations.
    • Provide financial leadership for Corporate Development/Research and Development (CD/R&D) operating expense (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX) short- and long-range budgeting and forecasts.
  • Interpersonal Leadership: Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively at executive, peer, and team member levels.
  • Goal Setting and Project Planning: Collaborate with functional area leaders and team members to develop efficient and effective goals, project plans, and schedules, assessing project complexity, risk, and duration.
  • Performance Management: Lead performance conversations with employees, including monthly one-on-ones, to discuss performance, check progress toward objectives, offer support, remove barriers, and reinforce a high-performance culture and a safe working environment.
  • Compliance and Policy Adherence: Ensure team members comply with all company policies and procedures, as well as relevant compliance programs.

Education

  • Minimum of 7-10 years demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional groups comprised of internal and external teams in a highly fast paced and complex global generic pharmaceutical environment, dealing with conflicting priorities.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of leading strategic projects at an enterprise wide level, experience in reporting solutions and data management, reporting and technical application solutions and end user support
