The Avon Maitland District School Board is inviting applications for casual Custodians who will support our Elementary (K-8) and/or Secondary schools (9-12) located in Huron and Perth counties.
The Basic Custodian duties may include:
Building Maintenance
Change lights;
Shovel snow and operate snow blower;
Clean and inspect roof;
Operate grass cutting equipment;
Perform minor repairs;
Conduct health and safety checks; and
Service roof top unit.
Building Cleaning
Operate and maintain all equipment; and
Perform all minor and major cleaning.
Requirements/Education
Minimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent
The ideal candidate should possess:
The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
Exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
The ability to use a computer (e.g. Google Suite; Smart Find, etc.)
Experience in handling machinery (e.g. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snow blowers); and,
Knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies.
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours of Work: Call-in basis, Monday - Friday (typically afternoon shift), summer hours (July and August, typically transition to day shift)
Daily Rate: $22.09 per hour + vacation pay
