Rate of Pay: $287.49 daily rate, as per the OSSTF collective agreement

Position Summary:

The AMDSB is currently seeking teachers for our Secondary Occasional Teacher list. Secondary Occasional Teachers work in a variety of schools throughout the AMDSB Region (Perth and Huron Counties).

Whether you are seeking the flexibility provided by occasional teaching or opportunities to move into long-term assignments or permanent teaching positions, joining the Secondary Occasional Teaching list is a great first step.

Requirements:

  • Good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (or with an application for OCT Certification in progress); OR currently registered in a Bachelor of Education program leading to OCT Certification OR awaiting certification with OCT;
  • As we are an English board, oral and written English proficiency is required;
  • Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within six months);
  • Occasional Teachers must be available for half or single day occasional teacher coverage on last minute notice;
  • Proven ability to maintain discipline in the classroom (classroom management);
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment;
  • Experience working with G-Suite (Gmail, Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) products.
Teacher Candidates:

If you are a current teacher candidate, please note that if you are recommended for the Occasional Teacher List, you will be placed on the Emergency List until you are a Member in Good Standing with OCT.

  • Teacher Candidates in year 5 and/or 6 of a Concurrent Education Program
  • Teacher Candidates in year 1 and/or 2 of Consecutive Education Program

Note - a Criminal Reference Check is part of the requirement process.
