Posting- 2025-117: Position of Responsibility - Primary Literacy Teacher on Temporary Assignment (1.0 FTE)

Start date to be determined and end on/or about June 28, 2026.

This is a full-time position for a two year term as a “Primary Literacy Teacher” on Temporary Assignment, with a start date to be determined and end June 28, 2026. A group of schools shall be assigned to the Primary Literacy Teacher.

All students in Year 2 of Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 shall be screened for early reading using a Board approved screener (as per PPM 168: Reading Instruction and Early Reading Screening). The Literacy Teacher on Special Assignment will plan and provide literacy and language curriculum instruction to students in Year 2 of Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 to allow for the required Early Reading Screening to occur for all students in these grades, in the Fall.

The role of the Primary Literacy Teacher shall be to provide direct reading intervention, (one on one or small group instruction), to students in Tiers 2 and 3. The Primary Literacy Teacher shall undertake the optional Early Reading Screener for students in Tiers 2 and 3, once annually in the Spring.

Qualifications:

Teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.

Hold qualifications in the Primary division (required).

Hold qualifications in the Intermediate division (preferred).

Hold qualification in FSL (as asset).

Hold Religious Education, Part 1.

Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with students, staff and public.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education.

Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion for students achievement and well-being, with an anti-oppression and equity lens.

Travel to various worksites is a requirement of this position and mileage shall be paid as per the Board policy.
