About this opportunity:

Cenovus’s Atlantic Region Offshore Installations Team is seeking two (2) Electrical Coordinators that will be the Authorized Electrical Persons on board. All Permit to work Electrical Isolations and Switchboard room access will be approved through these roles. These roles will be the Electrical Competency Assessors on board the West White Rose (WWR) Platform. The Electrical Coordinators will ensure all maintenance tasks are completed as scheduled. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that electrical/ Instrumentation equipment is safely and effectively maintained in accordance with Cenovus Energy Polices & Procedures, Regulatory requirements and offshore industry standards, to achieve established objectives in the most productive, efficient and safest manner possible.

Work Environment:

  • These positions are full time, permanent positions, located at our St. John’s office during the project phase and will transition to offshore rotational roles during operation phase

What you’ll do:

  • Effectively manage resources within delegated authority limitations to minimize wastage and maximize profitability while accomplishing Cenovus Energy goals and objectives

  • Mentor all Electrical/Instrumentation Operations and Maintenance Contractors

  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner, communicating in a clear and timely fashion and providing accurate information and records

  • Write & review various electrical procedures, reports, & policies

  • Carrying out fault finding and diagnosis of problems affecting plant and systems taking corrective actions to anticipate and prevent downtime

  • Carrying out risk assessment exercises and direct maintenance teams in toolbox talks as appropriate

  • Assisting in preparing and submitting requirements for spares and proposals for modifications, and in identifying appropriate stock levels and ensuring they are maintained at an optimum operational level

  • Ensure that all MV(13.8kV) and LV(x`600V) equipment switching & grounding that is required on the platform is performed by certified and proficient personnel

  • Assist with any Electrical & Instrumentation troubleshooting required on platform equipment

  • Training as required by the CAPP Standard Practice for Training & Qualifications of Personnel, Transport Canada, other regulatory requirements, and company required training as per the approved Cenovus Training Matrix

Who you are:

Our ideal candidates will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Electrical Technologist and or/ Certification as an Industrial Electrician (with Inter-provincial status if from out of province) or Equivalent

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience working Offshore with Medium/High Voltages

  • Experience working with drilling Variable Frequency Drives considered an Asset

This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing

You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
