We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Technician to support our offshore team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the offshore industry, working alongside experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will be a current student in a relevant field, eager to learn and contribute to our operations.

What you’ll do

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of offshore equipment and machinery

  • Support the installation and testing of new systems and technologies

  • Conduct routine inspections and report any issues to senior technicians

  • Participate in safety drills and ensure compliance with safety protocols

  • Document and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities

  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems

  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and documentation

Who you are

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)

  • Available to begin work in July 2025

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant technical program

  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions

  • Willingness to work offshore

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office

We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.

Education

  • Must be enrolled in an Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Technology Program (or related program) at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term

  • New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

Working Conditions

  • May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.

Safety Sensitive

  • This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you may also be required to pass the pre-employment medical, drug/alcohol assessment requirements and BST/HUEBA testing.

  • You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.

  • Training as required by the CAPP Standard Practice for Training & Qualifications of Personnel, Transport Canada, other regulatory requirements, and company required training as per the approved Cenovus Training Matrix.
