About this opportunity:
The Production/Utility Technician will be responsible for the safe monitoring and operation of all process and utility systems with a consistent focus on safety and environmental awareness. As an area authority for the permit to work system within process/utilities, they are to adhere to the Permit to Work (PTW) standards and ensure that all equipment is prepared for maintenance in an efficient and safe manor. The successful candidate may have an opportunity to gain experience and progress in time to a Control Room Operator role.
This position is a full time, permanent position, located at our St. John’s office during the project phase and will transition to an offshore rotation during the operation phase.
What you’ll do:
Support the completion and commissioning of production and utility systems of the West White Rose Platform followed by offshore commissioning, leading into a regular offshore rotation
Identify plant, equipment, and process isolations within the bounds of the Permit to Work system, performing all duties of Area Authority and assisting with implementation of mechanical isolations as required
Conduct routine rounds and visual inspections of the facility to monitor operations and identify/report anomalies while in the commissioning phase
Perform facility and field specific procedural and Piping Instrument Diagrams (PID) reviews, as well as risk assessment, toolbox talks, and field level hazard analysis
Support service contractors onboard the facility during inspection, commissioning, and testing operations
Training as required by CAPP Standard Practice for Training and Qualifications of Personnel, other regulatory requirements, and company required training as per the approved Training and Competency Matrix
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Minimum 8 years of related experience in an upstream oil and gas industry, offshore experience preferred
4th Class Power Engineer Certificate of Competency or other Industrial / Marine Engineering certification (CAPP)
We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
Offshore
This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing
You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
