Senior Geophysicist

About this opportunity:

The Foster Creek Geoscience Development team is looking for an enthusiastic and curious Senior Geophysicist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Foster Creek Geoscience Development, the Senior Geophysicist will work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure reservoir development plans are optimized to meet Cenovus business needs, enable the successful execution of our development plans, and support our long-term strategy.

What you’ll do:

• Work with a multidisciplinary team (geologists, geomodellers, engineers) to plan annual strat well program to delineate the reservoir at Foster Creek

• Plan 2D and 3D seismic programs with the Seismic Acquisition team to aid in reservoir delineation and characterization

• Provide QC for processing of seismic data and ensure consistency in development practices

• Apply geophysical interpretation techniques, including seismic inversion, to characterize reservoir complexity and identify reservoir development opportunities

• Provide geophysical input for geomodels, regulatory submissions and resource management reports

• Support SAGD well planning and execution including well trajectories, identifying geological hazards, and providing depth converted surfaces for geological prognosis

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada

• Registered as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with APEGA

• 8+ years of experience

• Skills in seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation

• Understanding of clastic depositional systems
