The location in Crofton, (British Columbia, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Power and Recovery Shift Supervisor. This job is full-time permanent.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Reporting to the Manager, Power & Recovery; the P&R Shift Engineer is responsible to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Power & Recovery Plant, including meeting Environmental permits. Working with the maintenance and operational teams to ensure the achievement of MBOS objectives; including safety, environment, production, cost and other joint objectives.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:
Safety
- Supports the efforts and values, which lead toward “World Class Safety”.
- Ensures crew capability to work safely is achieved by assessing needs and supplying appropriate safety training and mentoring.
- Involves crew members in safety meetings, ensures safety issues receive the overriding priority.
- Incident investigations, audits and safety checklists are properly reported, and action items are completed on time.
- Housekeeping standards are being met.
Communication
- Promote and support employee involvement by engaging them in business solutions.
- Coordinate and liaise with maintenance department for planning and repair.
Leadership
- Demonstrates leadership with open communication and involvement with production and maintenance personnel within the operating area.
- Maintains a positive and professional attitude in dealing with other team members in the performance of duties.
- Recognize employee achievements and celebrate significant milestones.
- Ensures the proper and fair application of company policies and procedures, including the labour agreement.
Productivity & Quality
- Ensure reliability specifications are communicated and met.
- Optimize process to meet efficiency and process targets.
- Optimize fuels and chemical additive proportions to ensure quality, production and cost effectiveness.
Employee Development
- Ensures ability of the operations crew to meet expectations by involvement of crew members through assessing skills and developing a strategy to build and maintain an appropriate skill base.
Cost Control and Budget
- Be financially accountable through participation in the budget planning process
Environmental Responsibilities
- Ensure production processes are operated in compliance with environmental procedures.
- Deal with and report on Environmental Incidents occurring on shift.
Environmental Authorities
- Curtail or stop production to keep the mill within its environmental permit limits.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The position is accountable for assigned responsibilities and designated duties in a manner acceptable to the Company.
AUTHORITY
The Power & Recovery Shift Engineer is given authority limits by the Superintendent, Power & Recovery as outlined by pertinent policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred qualifications are 2nd Class Steam ticket plus five years of related experience.
DUTIES COMMON TO ALL MANAGEMENT POSITIONS
Department safety, department overhead cost control, employee training and job development.
Salary $113,000 - $125,000 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
